My Interests

My Interests range from:

  • Programming - Started off wanting to learn how things work on computers and why in fact I espically wanted to know the magic behind computer games. I got into programming and learned C/C++ when I started university. Now I concentrate most of my talents in .Net Framework C# and VB.Net. However having to put up with legacy languages like VB6 can be a daily grind. Outside of work I continue to develop tools and programs ranging from simple things like a Xbox Media Centre Podcast script written in Python to a tetris clones written in DirectX 10

  • Travel - Well I have not done much of this yet but now things are looking up. While I travelled along way to live and work in Australia I still have yet to have that holiday where I explore a new and fresh place. The upcoming trip to America should help get me in the full swing

  • Science Fiction - Being a Geek and having a love of science fiction is normal. It is one of only forms of entertainment that makes you think what if this happened or what if that happend? Science Fiction is a playground for forward thinking ideas that can have life breath into them with a bit of movie/tv magic. For exaple.... Did someone see that new Apple IPAD that came out oh no wait I saw that on an episode of Star Trek about 7 years ago they called it a PAD but none the less the same forward thinking idea is now reality

  • Video Games - From an early age when I played on sonic on mega drive (genesis) to the latest free roaming sandbox game like GTA4 I have been playing video games for a long time. I have played in online quake clans when the internet only just got going and that was experience. People don't know what lag is until they have played quake2 on a 28.8 modem back in the day. Now I like a good mix of games, although I seem to verge towards the simple addictive puzzle games more than the action packed rpg. Plants vs Zombies and Puzzle Quest ranking highly at the moment.
