11 May

Saturday morning was spent with a tad hang over that was hard to shift; I spent most of the morning in bed until I got a phone call from the wine tour guy to say he was outside.

He drove up to an area called Woodinvale which is just slightly to the north and east of Redmond area. The tour guide being a real lover of wine at almost every place we went he was a member of their wine club. On first impressions I was expecting like Margret River to go up to a vineyard and into a tasting room. Well not many vineyards here... while they make the wine here the grapes are mostly grown several hundred miles south east.

In fact in what looked like a complex of small warehouses there had something like 30+ business making their own wine, each producing only about 3000 cases of wine. This is probably why each bottle is worth about 25~40 dollars. Most of the wine produced came from the popular growing grape in the region, the Syrah. For my tastes the Syrah felt far too strong a bite for me which meant it was hard to find anything I really liked.

Towards the end we discovered a nice drop of cab sav which just so happened to be his favourite bottle red in the whole region. The hangover did make me feel a little worse for wear but I managed to have a great morning sampling the best wine in the region.

In the evening I head off to Bellevue just south of Redmond and went to the Cinema to see Iron Man 2. Cinema itself was spacious but packed, Iron Man 2 having just been released. Opting for the small popcorn and small coke, what I got back was fairly huge serving of popcorn of which butter could be do lopped on the top (I did not) and large refillable cartoon of coke. However the cost of the movie ticket still remained fairly high at 13 dollars. The movie was good but not great I was falling asleep towards the end which was more to do with the hangover then anything else.

(Sorry did not take many photos)

Popcorn causes hangovers. Best to avoid the popcorn and havea beer instead.

What does the bear get rid of the hangover?
